Ari's Story: Rising Through Empowerment

"I don't know where would I be if I didn't have these mental health services."
- Amari
Ari is an 11 year-old African American girl who became a client two years ago after relocating from Los Angeles County to Moreno Valley. She had been bouncing between the homes of family members and friends before finally moving in with her maternal aunt and uncle. At the time, Ari was struggling deeply with her mental health. She felt invisible, undervalued, and burdened by a life of instability.

In our early sessions, Ari was understandably guarded. But slowly step-by-step she began to open up. Over time, she became an active participant individual and family therapy. Her transformation was nothing short of inspiring.

During the last year of treatment, Ari made remarkable changes in her behavior, especially at school. Once involved in fights, failing classes, and frequently disrespecting staff and peers, Ari did a complete 180. She began excelling academically, ultimately earning a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0. More that that, she was honored with her school's Core Value Award for Dignity -- a recognition of her growth in character and self-respect.

Ari told me she felt proud that her school and treatment ream believed in her. She had learn to believer in herself, too. With support, love, and structure, she discovered her own courage and strength. Her accountability and self-awareness soared. And behind her success was something deeply meaningful: the unwavering love and acceptance of her aunt and uncle, who embraced her not just as a relative, but as of their own children.

The Heart of the Work
Working with Ari has been one of the most rewarding
experiences of my career. She is a living example of what
is possible when love, stability, consistency, and unity are
present in a child's life. I am endlessly grateful to be part
ofan organization that values the critical role of family
involvement in mental health treatment. At Creative Solutions
for Kids and Families, we don't just offer therapy - we offer hope!

Ari's story is one of many, but it is a shining reminder that change is always possible when the right support system are in place. In every session, every interaction, and every breakthrough, I am reminded why this work matters. And I am proud to stand beside families as they build a stronger, more connected future -- together.
